About

Keith Krolak founded Keith Krolak | Architecture in 2018. Located in New Haven, Connecticut, Keith applies the principles of his 30 years of experience leading the design of significant works of architecture internationally to a variety of small to medium scale projects. His extensive portfolio spans a broad range of building types including large-scale mixed-use and corporate office towers, luxury hotels, world-class performing arts centers, art museums, and residential projects of all sizes and types.

Drawing upon his vast experience of working in Japan, Keith collaborated on a number of international projects designed by Pickard Chilton, including major mixed-use projects such as the Y2 Project adjacent to Tokyo Station in Tokyo as well as significant corporate buildings in Japan and Singapore.  Additionally, Keith collaborated on the development of a master plan for Dominion Energy in Richmond, VA, which led to the phased development of two downtown office towers on adjacent blocks.

Prior to joining Pickard Chilton, Keith was a co-founder and Principal of Studio ABK Architects in New Haven, Connecticut, where he led design for a range of corporate, commercial, institutional and residential projects.   Design firm ownership and working on small to medium scale projects provided valuable experience on the inner workings of professional practice.

In his sixteen years with Cesar Pelli & Associates as a Senior Associate and Design Team Leader, Keith collaborated on the design of numerous award-winning projects.  Utilizing his depth of knowledge of Japanese building practices, he made significant contributions to the firm’s work in Japan, including the National Museum of Art in Osaka and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower - Mitsui Fudosan’s Tokyo headquarters.

Keith received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received an additional Master’s degree at the Tokyo Institute of Technology under the tutelage of Kazuo Shinohara.  Upon completion of the Tokyo graduate degree, Keith worked for one year in the Itsuko Hasegawa Atelier in Tokyo.
